good idea...but the thing needs to be pretty heavy to overcome the pressure.

It might be a good idea but something they call a "junk shot"
will work first.

A mud-like mixture of lipstick, hockey pucks, condoms and
pit-bull treats is forced against the flow while the drillers
that faked the test results chant "spill baby spill".

The technique has been tested within sight of Russia
and close to the country of Africa so it has every chance of
success.

Ok, We are all "smarter than Einstein" here, so just how heavy does
the pole need to be? And then given the density of cement, how long
does it need to be. Is it feasible to build such a pole? How would
you do it? (note cement will harden under water!)

The solution to this problem will count toward your midterm grade not
to mention toward saving all life on the planet!

Gosh Sue, it sounds like you've been talking to those ugly Democrat
women who don't know that you actually CAN see Russia from Alaska. My
guess is Palin has a LOT more experience with oil spills than you or
your "intellectual" friends with the the hound dog hair do. So, show
your "stuff". Just how long does the cement plug have to be?

Deepwater Horizon can be contained if the ocean
floor can be graded to yield a flat terrain around the
hole. Then you lower a highly modified, flooded
battleship over the oil vent. The bottom of the
ship has to have a square or rectangular cutaway.
The cutaway has to be surrounded by a welded
inverted hatchcombing with a height of 3-4 feet.
The hatchcombing sinks into the ocean floor, the
oil vent fills the battleship and drives the water up
to the survace via main deck valves and tubing.
It would take a highly modified battleship hull to
contain the blowout.
