As noted in Bellas printer rec thread elsewhere, when I updated to SL I
then had to download the updated scanner drivers from HP to get my C4580
scanning again. Probably worth going to the HP site and checking for
updated drivers even though you've now got the printer working.

would suggest they do also offer a seperate printer & scanner software
for 10.6 than they do for 10.3-10.5
