From: Ted Curtin on 14 Jan 2010 20:56 Since automatic update downloaded the 'HID Non-User Input Data Filter (KB 911895)', every time I boot up, Windows attempts, and fails to install what seems to be a non-existent piece of HID interface hardware. So, how do I turn this off so I don't have to deal with it every bootup?! Thanks! I read the article, but could find no reference about how to do so.
From: Andrew E. on 14 Jan 2010 22:00 With that low of a numbered update you must be in SP1,try updating to SP2 & SP3,those updates start at about 950000. From: Ted Curtin on 20 Jan 2010 21:41 No, I have SP2, but I think this was downloaded in response to some software that I installed... BTW, what's the latest take on SP3? I avoided it at release when I heard about the many difficulties that people had with it, and saw it suggested to avoid it - SP2 is working fine for me, should I leave well enough alone? From: Unknown on 21 Jan 2010 11:52 Ted! Something to think about. You stated you heard about the many difficulties people had with SP3. I suggest you more or less ignore that info. Think of the MILLIONS of people who have installed it without a glitch. Reading these news groups you'll only hear of the bad experiences and not the good. And, I might add, those with the bad experiences in all probability was caused by non Microsoft items such as Symantec, Norton, and other programs.
