And you're the one that preaches about what people SHOULD want in terms of portable music/video players? Jed, don't be silly.

JG, thanks a lot! Initially, fontforge was doing the same thing as other converters, which is producing an empty font for MS Courier New (and yet, like the rest, it worked fine with Microsoft Courier New Bold etc). Since it has a GUI, I was able to dig a little deeper and found out that Courier New comes with built in bitmaps for various pixel sizes, but those bitmaps are empty. Having them was worse than not having them. I re-loaded Courier New and specified "no bitmaps" and created a few sizes that I wanted. It worked perfectly, except that fontforge crashes if I type too many point sizes in a window (funny, it crashes right during typing). But I can live with that. Thank You! i

Yeah, wanting to use a font is suspicious. We need to keep an eye on the guy, make sure he isn't up to something dastardly, like trying to use ligatures, or perhaps even trying to kern. Using fonts is just a gateway activity--best to nip it in the bud early. Thank God we've got vigilant people like Jedidiah to spot the warnings signs. -- --Tim Smith

Fonts are the slippery slope to Devil worship, and complete loss of the Holy soul.
