To my present knowledge I can only delete / modify a complete series of
appointments, not only the future ones.

Do you have an exceptions or notes in any of the events in the series? If
not, you can change the End date. Making a change will regenerate the
appointments and you'll lose all exceptions and notes.

If you want to change it from weekly to monthly, you'll need to end the
current series and make a new appointment.
