I was wrong; it still needs an address, but the address is not used to
send you a license key. You receive a license (for one year) after you
register. You'll be asked to give your name (first name and surname), an
e-mailaddress and your country.

Pull your soul out of your own body, then search your brain from
outside! Maybe it's hidden somewhere... :)

You are supposed to remember that! It was your identity!

You are SENDING this info to Avast. It is recorded on their *server* in
a database. You don't have access to their database to update it. The
local program doesn't care about your e-mail address. You gave it to
Avast so they could send you a license, update alerts, and whatever else
they choose. The program itself doesn't need or use your e-mail address
to run or to obtain updates.

If was truly an "alias" and you don't want e-mails through it anymore,
why not just delete the alias? You can then simply have Avast send you
a new license using their web form at:

http://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus.php

Notice that you, again, have to give them an e-mail address of where to
send the doc containing the license key. Getting a new license
targeting a new e-mail address/alias will not remove your old e-mail
address/alias from their database. Getting a license key lets you
register the product (so it doesn't puke after the trial period). The
program only needs the license key. It doesn't need your e-mail
address. That's something you gave to Avast, not the program. Look at
the registration info in Avast. See your e-mail address listed there?

I don't see that you can create user accounts at the Avast web site. If
they had accounts, maybe you could change your e-mail address recorded
up on their server in their database but that isn't anything the local
program needs. It just needs the license key.

I suppose you could write a letter, sent registered (and notarized
regarding the content of your letter), with legal demand that they
remove your old e-mail address(es) from their database.

Your explanation explains it all!

So THAT's why I couldn't find anywhere on the net how to get your email
address out of the registration part of the Avast installed program!

Next time I'll save the temporary email address into a text file INSIDE the
directory where I install Avast! (C:\My Installed Programs\Anti
Virus\Avast\readme.txt).

Thank you for your help.

BTW, whoever said that the new version doesn't need an email to register it
must know something I don't because it seems to use the same use model as
before.

For those who haven't worked it out already that is a good explanation
why you behave like a school kid.

You pretend to be innocent whilst in reality go around making goofy troll
statements.
