It's especially good for chopping portions of a video without needing to reencode the result. Also good for combining separate audio and video into a single file. Unfortunately its unintuitive interface could use improvement.

I kept having problems with the program messing up files (losing the soundtrack or video portions), so I removed the program from my computer. There are other options out there. I don't know of any other freeware editor that can chop, append and a/v multiplex the variety of file types Avidemux can without reencoding. Avidemux can also convert a variety of file types by reencoding, but plenty of other freeware apps can do that more intuitively.

Perhaps so, but my needs aren't that complex. The program's confusing interface and continual generation of bad output, IMO, makes it not worth installing. > Avidemux can also convert a variety of file types by reencoding, but > plenty of other freeware apps can do that more intuitively. I finally installed Super(c) and found that it does the job very well.
