From: jbear on 18 Dec 2009 15:30 This error message happens DURING THE WINDOWS INSTALLATION, its an error message about a file ON THE WINDOWS CD! I just can't stand when people have these all knowing to solutions that waste people's time and energy. No wonder Microsoft is so messed up. I'm buying a mac . -- jbear ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jbear's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/165203.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-xp-support/66578.htm http://forums.techarena.in

I'm buying a > mac . <begin joke> I told you that would make jbear switch. Now we can all go back to normal usage and assisting. *whew* <end joke> This May 2005 conversation (yeah - 2005 - that is not a typo): http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support/browse_frm/thread/fd373c1493e11e1/ Using techarena.in, eh? Explains it. ;-) Know that switching to a mac, you are not eliminating issues, just bringon on new issues and with less of a user base, thus less commonality/troubleshooting going on. ;-) (I own two macs and work with them frequently - I have no trouble with them personally - love them in many ways. Just hate when people assume their troubles will disappear if they switch to a different OS... sad.) -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Nobody cares about your "me too" post to a /*58-MONTH OLD*/ thread. Next time check the datestamps. For help on YOUR problem *now*, start a NEW thread and provide the details for YOUR setup. Thank you for choosing a Mac. You can go bother them now. http://forums.techarena.in A leech site pretending to have forums by running a webnews-for-dummies interface that submits improperly formatted posts through a gateway to Usenet (aka newsgroups). --- Posting Hints --- ALWAYS REVIEW your message before submitting it. You want someone OTHER than yourself to understand your post. Also remember that no one here is looking over your shoulder to see at what you are pointing. If you don't well explain your situation by providing the details that you already know, don't expect others to know what is your situation. Explain YOUR computing environment and just what actions you take to reproduce the problem. Often you get just one chance per potential respondent to elicit a reply from them. If they skip your post because you gave them nothing to go on (no details, no versions, no OS, no context) then they will usually move on to the next post and never return to yours. What is Usenet (aka newsgroups): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newsgroups http://www.masonicinfo.com/newsgroups.htm http://www.mcfedries.com/Ramblings/usenet-primer.asp When using a webnews-for-dummies interface, like Microsoft's Communities or Google Groups or a forum-to-Usenet proxy, those are gateways to leech from Usenet or to provide web-based access for Usenet-ignorant users. Despite the appearance of a forum, you are still participating in Usenet. How to post to Usenet (aka newsgroups): http://66.39.69.143/goodpost.htm http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 http://users.tpg.com.au/bzyhjr/liszt.html http://www.mugsy.org/asa_faq/getting_along/usenet.shtml Regarding error or status messages: - Do NOT omit the message. - Do NOT describe the message. - Do NOT summarize the message. - Do NOT paraphrase the message. - Do NOT truncate the message. - Do show the ENTIRE message (but munge or star out personal info, like your username in an e-mail address but not the domain). - Provide sufficient context under which the error occurs or how to reproduce it. How to quote correctly: http://www.netmeister.org/news/learn2quote.html Never use quoted-printable or HTML format when posting to Usenet. Always post using plain text. Wrap lines at 76 characters, or less.
From: computerguru on 8 Jan 2010 11:00 If the hard disk is dead you will still see this message. I asume it may be the cd drive too. I will investigate it and post in this microsoft forum. From: computerguru on 8 Jan 2010 15:27 This error occurs due to two reasons. 1. bad hard disk 2. bad cd drive Tech from: http://www.computerstar.ca/ "VanguardLH" wrote: > jbear wrote: > > > This error message happens DURING THE WINDOWS INSTALLATION, its an error > > message about a file ON THE WINDOWS CD!
