Read of all the promises politicians made...how they promised that Hart-Cellar would not result in mass migrations or any change to the face of the nation. Most sold it as just 'symbolic' to coincide with civil rights, that we appear to be 'all inclusive'. Wow, no bigger lie has ever been promoted as with Hart-Cellar; and if that same congress had been able to look into the future to see how it has totally destroyed our national integrity, it would have never passed. As is always the case once progressives succeed in making law with vast social ramifications, the Republicans decided to make lemonade out of lemons and realized the cheap labor angle. Reagan's amnesty was perhaps the one very LARGE mistake he made [as conservatives may see it today]. Not only did it INVITE a new, even larger wave of illegals coming across the border, but also gave away any rational argument that Republican conservatism may have today in fighting back. Republicans have to be seen just as complicit as Democrats for this. But Conservatives 'know' better; and the impetus today by Obama and his ilk is to 'seal the deal' for Democrat rule from now to yonder. Hart-Cellar and "amnesty to illegals leading to citizenship"...yep, two 'atom bombs' dropped on this society.

Don't get me wrong, I don't support having 5-10 million illegals here either. It's just that many don't remember, care to remember, or even know that Ronnie left the barn door wide open |
