From: rick_s on 28 Jun 2010 20:50 Information pathways... So in this thread we start by asking ourselves what we would like, and we look around for examples in the world and from film and other new technologies and we match them up and apply that to our preferred hardware with some supposed software ideas. Now the subject line of all these posts has an information pathway that marks the route I took. Now I would edit that and then see what that can tell me about the creative process. And I would map it also using logical alphabetic operators to see what that tells me and map in the hardware and map in the software. It would be a lot smaller than it is now but as it is now still it has some value to the overall concept. Do I need to actually map the ABC's? Well that depends on how articulate you want to be. If you are a fly by the seat of your pants developer, then what part of that is really of importance to your goal? In my case I am interested in knowing if the hardware might be available for me to program an AI assistant like Gozer (as example) so that when it is done, it will have a platform of some kind to stand on. And from what I see that's already available in small size which is enough to program since you just want to run the program and see her do her thing. Above her in the last post example is a clear panel holo screen. That makes sense as a way to remove some of the ads from web content by putting the copyright material into a more suitable frame. I assume in that video that it looks clearer in real life than it does on the video. If bit then better screens are around. You could use a 3D TV monitor screen there instead but it would be less intrusive if it was a clear panel screen. I have tried using two monitors side by side and well some people do that but I never felt the need since my desktop is big enough as is. I have connected a TV display that way and used it for camcorder video. Still connected to the computer, Windows allows for different monitors. So we are just for now using the available materials. So there is really nothing new here that isn't already available somewhere and soon to be available everywhere. An url is an information pathway but so is the design process and a book outline and GPS route and the routes we will use to direct our AI Assistants. We can make a user interface that gives directions very well. And that would be a type of shorthand to operate your pc. The overlord process would be able to execute commands in Windows, on your own machine, read javascript, read java even if you wanted, and control your network traffic if you wanted someone trusted to do that for you. Not a firewall a no sorry no one gets in and no one gets out and no phoning home and no access to anyone or any program without express consent. It just blocks everything completely and only allows the traffic you want which might be just your web browser and it. And it is also a web browser except it puts pages to the screen in different ways. It won't allow popups because it can read javascript. So it will strip javascript down completely to only those commands it needs and it will keep it to a minimum. It just closes all the doors and disables all spying cookies whatever ideally. If the advertising war is over and the ads move to the screen to the right, then you probably could get by with a lot less javascript and even maybe go back to html which always was good enough except it doesn't do ads overly well. If you don't control your own machine, then you can't make it teh way you want it to look and feel when its done. If you are still a victim of popups and things you don't personally want in your computing experience with an AI assistant, then you need to keep upgrading your AI assistant until you have your system the way you want it to be. And the user would probably just get a DVD and pick from a few styles of operation, to suit their needs, how much script how much ads etc by merely picking a desktop example. It would check for the panel screen and do whatever it needs to do. If you want to use it display web content it can. And it could put it on the clear panel screen or your 2D or 4D screen. Since you will have so much hardware, it can mabnage that by simply getting a management add on, like any Windows utility now which can manage all the things I just wanted the AI to do. And you could of course easily get add ons that teach it another language besides javascript and it could also read XML. That would probably come with it by default. The ability to read html and related filetypes. So you hook up a browser unit, that you can get free even which has all the modern commands built in, and you tailor that unit, into a DLL for Windows and then you provide the screen controls displaying content in a more targeted way, such as the AI Librarian did in the movie Time Machine. Here is an embedded full complete webbrowser unit that uses the delphi language as an example of how you can just plug in that entire capability in seconds. http://sourceforge.net/projects/embeddedwb/ With that Gozer can surf teh web and do anything that Firefox and or EI or Opera could do hypothetically although this one might not be up to date. But you probably wouldn't go ahead and try to make that yourself because it might take you five years to do that. So you just plug it in, that's what its there for. |
