From: Michael Mickey on 26 Nov 2009 18:14 A cousin of mine is adamant about OS X being open source. He says OS X is only a trademark that Apple puts over Darwin. When I replied I never heard about this, he answered: "Why do you believe developers would work for free on Darwin otherwise? Apple just wants to make clear that it won't provide support on hardware they haven't sold." That was it, I was stuck. But recently, I read about Psystar. If Darwin and OS X are the same, why doesn't Psystar use Darwin and put its name over it? I'm sure that within days, it would be clear that the OS they're using is really OS X. As a bonus, they wouldn't have to pay for OS X! I'll see my cousin again next Christmas. I hope you people can provide some arguments that won't be too easily trumped :)

He doesn't have tactics because tactics require an overarching strategy and a goal. He has no goal beyond insulting Mac users. He's not trying to promote open source or actually do anything, he's just amusing himself. Trollishness is basically a masturbatory activity. He's a harmless idiot if you take him in this light. Engage him if it amuses you, ignore him otherwise. He's not worth getting one's undies in a bunch, as the "don't feed the troll" crowd are wont to do. He enjoys when we lecture each other about not responding to him, too.

He's certainly the sociopathic type to do so. -- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.
