The Itunes faq says that rented movies can be watched on a TV through an
Apple TV.

Does this mean that I can't rent a movie and watch it on my TV which is
connected to a MacBook Pro through its DVI and sound ports?

Thanks

Do other videos in iTunes on the MacBook Pro play on your TV?

That'd only partially answer the question.

Another question I'd want to know is: What resolution would you have via
a dl to the MBP. It may well be less than that which would be downloaded
onto the AppleTV.

Why would that be? I don't know about you, but my MBP has more
resolution than my TV. [Which is why I prefer watching on my MBP if I'm
watching alone.]

I love my MBP, but not for movies. My HD TVs are 1920 x 1080, but it's
not just the number of pixels that count in my book.
