So what are the advantages of jailbreaking your iPad at the moment. Are
there any killer applications that are out there that it gives you?

I have nothing actually worrying me about it at the moment, but I liked
the sound of the app that made the iPhone apps forget what their screen
boundaries are supposed to be. And SBSettings used to be good on the
iPhone.

In its own I don't know that is enough.

not worried about the multitasking or anything or even sure if I will do
it yet, as presumably iPhone 4 is going to be out in the next few weeks.

I've only used the Jailbreak for multitasking so far.

I do feel multitasking is a lot more important on an iPad than it is on
the iPhone.

I feel it probably is, although I haven't had a need for it yet.
However, the multitasking on a jailbroken iPhone when I had it is so
clunky compared to the multitasking on OS4, I think it may be worth me
waiting for that.

On the other hand, if there was a french->english translator, I would be
keen on using it with that!
Or book reading software with a translating popup would be better.

I think it was Gruber (or someone equally in the know, anyway) who
suggested that the iPad and iPhone operating systems will not be
unified until 4.1 (ie. not the iPhone OS that will ship with the next
iPhone, but the minor version after that).

That makes sense
