Initializing a Map in an Interface?
Is it possible to do a full-on assignment of specific values to a HashMap in an interface? If so, how? I'd like to create a HashMap that has a key that is a String and a value that is a Color. The HashMap would contain a substantial number of these entries. I'm trying to figure out how to write the initial... 20 Mar 2010 09:45
JNI win32 and Layered windows.
Hi, recently I wrote a DLL to make javas windows transparent in win32. The file works partially, thats the weird thing. When setting the window to transparent, the window becomes transparent, and drawing to its Graphics works as long as you don't use drawImage, if you use drawImage, the window stops being trans... 16 Mar 2010 03:31

Finding absolute url in jsp page
I'm including an applet in a JSP page, but the applet requires some complete urls to some components. Rational argument for not defining string constant for empty string?
So let's say you're working with a developer who has accepted the wisdom of defining constants for oft-used hardcoded strings. They then decide that lines like this: String foo = ""; should instead be: String foo = StringConstants.EMPTY_STRING; Assuming you conclude, as I do, that this is going too ... 14 Mar 2010 14:16
