I am > rapidly going off of 4.4 :( ok go to wigits file system and drag quick access to the desktop and configure it then go to desktop settings and the preview tab should be working then follow your instincts and play with it. For the function you are looking for i have working i you the folder view widgit which gives me direct access to my home folder.
