Amplification of signal. IE running long video cables. If it works fine in passive mode, however there's no pressing need to power it.

I just bought one of these KVM Switches from EBay. I just needed it to switch monitors. With just the monitors active and nothing else plugged, and no external power supply, the unit still works. Plugging it into a 9 VDC, 500MA supply, the LED's brighten up. The video remains the same. I think I see a small amount of ghosting, but it's not bad. By the way, for the power connector, the center pin (TIP) is PLUS (+), and the RING is NEG (-). |
