Christian, The primary reason for using the leveling feature of Project is to move tasks based on priority for resources that are overallocated. The leveling feature will NOT create tasks to fill in gaps of free time for resources. Is it possible to find more work to fill in Bob's spare time? Probably, but it depends on Bob's supervisor/management to find and assign suitable work. Could you write a macro to do that? Maybe, but assigning the right resources to do required work requires a whole lot of subjective assessment on the part of the project manager - not something that is easily implemented in a macro. From: Trevor Rabey on 17 Mar 2010 02:24 This is not about leveling. How do you define leveling? This just filling up available slots. Use the Task Usage View to set Work hours for each day. -- Trevor Rabey 0407213955 61 8 92727485 PERFECT PROJECT PLANNING www.perfectproject.com.au "Christian W" <ChristianW(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1D4AA9D3-9733-40BB-96F5-4EF9EF6A973F(a)microsoft.com... > Hello friends, > > Have a problem leveling resources is the follow: > > Bob task1 4hs day1 > Bob task2 6hs day2 > > I need to add more task for BoB filling the time avaliable > > Bob task1 4hs day1 > Bob task2 6hs day2 > Bob Taks3 4hs day1 and 2hs day2 > > Is this possible? shall I to do a macro ? > > > Thanks in advance and sorry by my english, > Christian W. >
From: Jan De Messemaeker on 17 Mar 2010 03:06 Hi Christian, I already answered this. I hope you will read the answer this time. Set all tasks such that units are 100% So task 1 duration 4 hours, Work 4 hours Task 2 duration 6 hours, Work 6 hours, start day2 Task 3 duration 6 hours, work 6 hours In Leveling make sure "Leveling can split tasks" is ON Make Sure Task 3 has a lower priority that 1 and 2 Leveling order Priority, Standard. Now level. A macro can only automate whet you do manually, it does not add features. Hi Trevor, Why do manually what the software can do? Filling slots may be a good use for leveling, why not? -- Jan De Messemaeker Microsoft Project Most Valuable Professional +32 495 300 620 For availability check: http://users.online.be/prom-ade/Calendar.pdf "Trevor Rabey" <trevorATperfectproject.com.au> wrote in message news:pe6dnfGCaP8n6D3WnZ2dnUVZ8hOdnZ2d(a)westnet.com.au... > This is not about leveling. > How do you define leveling? > > This just filling up available slots. > Use the Task Usage View to set Work hours for each day. > -- > Trevor Rabey > 0407213955 > 61 8 92727485 > PERFECT PROJECT PLANNING > www.perfectproject.com.au > > "Christian W" <ChristianW(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:1D4AA9D3-9733-40BB-96F5-4EF9EF6A973F(a)microsoft.com... >> Hello friends, >> >> Have a problem leveling resources is the follow: >> >> Bob task1 4hs day1 >> Bob task2 6hs day2 >> >> I need to add more task for BoB filling the time avaliable >> >> Bob task1 4hs day1 >> Bob task2 6hs day2 >> Bob Taks3 4hs day1 and 2hs day2 >> >> Is this possible? shall I to do a macro ? >> >> >> Thanks in advance and sorry by my english, >> Christian W. >> > > |
