We flew through a typhoon on the way to Manila from Mindanao on an
Airbus (A319 I think). I was very impressed that the wings managed to
stay attached to the aircraft.

Boeing now owns McDonnell Douglas as well, and IIRC, it was their craft
that were made into the Hurricane trekkers

Oh well that's... just... great. And I'm happy I'm not a crew member
on one of those trekker missions. I'm really not a happy camper when
the plane flies sideways.

NOAA uses Lockheed P3 Orions, and a Gulfstream G-IV (for AlBore, no
doubt ;).
