From: Bob Newman on 29 Dec 2009 21:02 If this is not the correct group for a Live Mail question please direct me. Simple question. I use Live Mail only for newsgroups (Win 7 of course). Is there a way to set it up to boot to Newgroups as the default screen as opposed to Mail (I always have to then click on Newsgroups)? Thanks in advance... Bob
From: Bruce Hagen on 29 Dec 2009 21:19 Yes, this is not the correct newsgroup, but see this: http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop&tid=a4dc3494-0dfc-4893-a5ef-8eb1bb2d7ff9&cat=&lang=&cr=&sloc=&p=1 WLMail can be run in XP and Vista also, so the "Win7 of course" doesn't really fly. WLMail may be able to run on XP and Vista BUT... if you have Win 7 you are LOCKED IN. No choice. If OE6 would run on Win 7 there would be no need for this post. Pegasus Mail (an email client; my installation is my default email handler), and Mozilla Thunderbird both work just fine under Windows 7. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum

XP and earlier came with OE embedded in it. Vista came with WinMail embedded in it. Win7 does not have any e-mail program embedded in it. That is my reason for saying "Win7 of course" doesn't really fly. What are you locked into? Windows Live Mail? There is always Thunderbird, Eudora, Opera, Pegasus, etc. You are not locked into anything. You /are/ locked out of using Outlook Express, and Windows Mail. Why? Well for starters, all production for both of those e-mail clients ended in June, 2006. Hey. I liked OE myself, but don't shoot the messenger. If it were up to me, I would have fixed the fragile dbx file system and kept OE going. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail] Imperial Beach, CA "Bob Newman" <bobnewman(a)cox.net> wrote in message news:6cU_m.8$FY5.2(a)newsfe23.iad... > "WLMail can be run in XP and Vista also, so the "Win7 of course" doesn't > really fly." > > Win 7 does really fly.
