I was the OP and I have just updated from 10.4.11 to 10.6.2. It took,
believe it or not, 10 hours!! I now have a problem with mail.

My outside connections seem to be okay. Mail goes out and comes in
without any problems. Well, I had to fiddle a bit with SpamSieve and
I'm still not sure if it is working right, but I think I can fix that.

Local mail is not working and I cannot get it to go on line. It worked
fine under 10.4.11. System Administrator uses it for periodic.x and I
use it for calendar reminders. I suspect I can still get it from the
terminal, but I want to get it into 4.2 Mail.

I suppose I need to change the settings, but I have no idea how.

I recall I had to use qpopper and probably some other stuff to get this
working on 10.4, but I can't remember what all I had to do. I think I
may have to do it again. Help!!!

Postfix was also involved in some way. I think I had to check to be
sure it was running and re-start it if it stopped. The problem is I set
this up to run when I installed 10.4, however long ago that was, and
haven't looked at it since. Furthermore, if I made any notes, I have
forgotten where I put them.
