I'm trying to set up a Logitech Harmony 700 for use as a universal
remote with the AV kit. So far so good, although set-up can be pretty
teeth pulling.

Where's I'm stuck is setting up the 'watch my videos' activity. For
this I've set the TV on, set it to HDMI3, set the amp on, set it to CD
(what I'musing to route the Mini's sound), set the Mini on and set it
to FrontRow. However, what's -actually- happening is that iTunes starts
being controlled instead of FrontRow coming up.

I want to leave iTunes running on the Mini constantly, and iPhoto too,
to act as media servers for laptops etc.. I think this is clashing with
the Harmony's idea of how to start up FrontRow - has anyone ever had
this working?

Cheers,
Ian

It sounds a little like it's not sending the 'Start FrontRow' command,
or perhaps it's sending it too soon after starting the Mini. Perhaps you
could try introducing a delay?

I've got one of the older 525 units. Love it.

I've got a 525, very good. Can't quite get used to Activities though.

But I've never got it to work with the Mini - is it a listed device, or
do you get it to learn?

I thought that too - not sure that's it though. I started up the Mac,
quit all apps and then tried again - still no Front Row. Will have
another crack a bit later, after which it's a support call to Logitech
I imagine.

It's listed, and it explicitly knows about Front Row. Doesn't seem to
actually -do- it though...

Once Front Row is up it operates Front Row fine, with the exception
that scrolling isn't smooth (as if it's sending the down key multiple
times very fast, rather than just holding it down).

Going to have a crack at the PS3 next - I got the Harmony adapter and
since that will now be my DVD/Blu-Player I'm keen to get stuff going
there as well.

Ian

It's a listed device - Devices/Computer/Apple/Mini (and then review the
information panel).

Does your 525 shorten the word "Activities" in the top line of the LCD?
Looks very amateurish.

The OP might care to look in the Plex forums where I think he might
find something about Front Row starting up unwanted, but it seems to be
a Snow Leopard-related problem, to be overcome with a pref pane whose
name escapes me ATM.
