From: cturner122 on 2 Jan 2010 12:12 Hello, I need some help - whenever I reboot my SBS2008 Server, (specifically after installing updates requiring a reboot), I lose internet connectivity. I have to run the "fix my network" wizard each time twice. The first time to have an Fixed IP re-assigned to the server (Internet Connectivity then comes back) and then the second time to correct problems found with IPv6. As long as I am at the console this is not a big deal, however if I am administering remotely, this is a big issue. Is this normal? Doesn't seem like it should be. Thanks everyone! From: Bill Sanderson on 2 Jan 2010 15:12 I reboot my SBS 2008 remotely as often as I need to. Several times yesterday for applying Exchange 2007 SP2 and the subsequent roll-up. I've never had the problems you describe--so something is definitely not right. I clicked on the 'view this thread' out of curiosity, and they are actually 3 seaprate links, and the first one that you replied to, no longer exists, as if it was pulled or something. So that's why the poster can't see them. Another good reason to AVOID techarena and use a real newsreader, or use the Microsoft Social forums. Ace

Hello Chris, Thanks for your post and Larry's suggestion. In addition to SBS 2008 BPA that you should run first, I also would like suggest you double check your network topology, check the local IP address on the server, use a static Internet IP addresses. If the issue persists, please rerun the Connect to the Internet Wizard (CTIW) again. Changing the local IP address on the server: During installation Windows SBS 2008 searches for a router. If it finds a router that has a valid IP address, Setup configures the local network adapter on the server with a static IP address in the same range as the router. For example, if the router's internal network port IP address is 192.168.1.1, then the server's IP address is 192.168.1.2. All network-related services are set up to use IP addresses in the same range. If you must change the static IP address on the server to a new subnet for any reason, you must also change the static IP address on the internal network port on the router, and then run the Fix My Network Wizard to ensure that all network services use the new IP address range. Using IPv6: During Windows SBS 2008 installation, a static Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) address is automatically configured on the server. Because many applications are programmed to use IPv4, Windows SBS 2008 runs IPv4 and IPv6 on the same network, either wired or wireless. Windows SBS 2008 also configures DHCP and DNS for IPv6. For the server to use IPv6 to reach the Internet, you must have a stateless, autoconfigured IPv6 router connecting your local network to the Internet. For more information, please refer to: Managing Your Windows Small Business Server 2008 Network http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc546017.aspx Introducing the Connect to the Internet Wizard (CTIW) <http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2008/09/17/introducing-the-connect-to-the-internet-wizard-ctiw.aspx> Moreover, you may check related log files(e.g. fncw.log) for more error information: Key Small Business Server 2008 Log Files http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2008/10/01/key-small-business-server-2008-log-files.aspx Hope this helps. Also, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
