From: Hector Santos on 18 Mar 2010 17:40 Something is up at the Microsoft news server: news://news.microsoft.com:119 Posted mail is being lost. Many of my own, even mail from Joe Newcomer which can be seen at Google Group is not coming in via the Microsoft news server. I just prepared a test news site to downloads the last 100 messages directly from the news.microsoft.com server via our news gate software and mail is lost. This is a problem for three main reasons: 1) Lost of work and time for participants of the group, 2) Mirror sites are out of sync now with the main host news site, 3) The Microsoft news server is acknowledging the posting, not rejecting it during the transaction, hence there is US EPCA "User Expectation" for delivery or a notification of rejection. Lost of legitimate mail raises anxieties! I hope someone at Microsoft can address this or at least explain it. Sounds to me that someone is goofing around with new forum software or something and is allowing mail to be lost during testing. -- HLS

From: Tom Serface on 18 Mar 2010 18:00 Probably just a glitch. It happens from time to time with news servers. Messages could all show up at any time. From: Hector Santos on 18 Mar 2010 18:14 Well, if the news server is accepting the NNTP article POSTing and returns a message id for the post, but it never shows up, something more than a "glitch" is happening. I give the benefit of the doubt that some engineer is playing around with news/mail software and its testing it on production servers. It should not accept mail if its not going to post it. I mean, the only other reason is well, censorship, and I don't think that is happening. I certainly hope not. -- Tom Serface wrote: > Probably just a glitch. Thanks for pointing that out. Just another conspiracy of Microsoft's to help google groups thrive, instead of their own. Oh, wait... what? ;-) Liviu
