Many of them have been fixed by emptying the print queue. Also go to Utilites/Activity Monitor and make sure there is nothing running you don't want. Geoff. -- Geoffrey S. My MBP runs fans loudly when CPU is stressed. A lot of websites using Flash can cause this. I ususally just quit apps until it cools down. Open Activity Monitor to see what's using CPU; it might be something you don't use or want. Keep checking the monitor when fans speed up. In normal operation, if my fans are running, I don't hear them. -- john mcwilliams

(note to others: the question was not, "Is my CPU under heavy load?" it was..."Does the fan always run?") and its *quite* noticeable. im laying in bed, notebook on, house quiet, and fan is running. for a web browser. reading static HTML. same setup on an intel MB does not run any fans. sm
