From: lisalp on 14 Jan 2010 02:23 I have seen similar threads but have not found my specific quest. I am an R&D Product Development Manager with a request from our VP to provide a Resource Allocation Report (generated from MSP 2007)that contains a row for each of our department resources (personnel) and a column for each project with sum totals. This would generate a single report conveying the total resources allocated for each project (column total) and each individual's allocation (row total) for a specific timeframe (month, quarter, etc.). Is this possible to generate from MSP 2007 with a Master Project file correlated to a Master Resource Pool? I can not seem to display that for Feb., as an example (or any other timeframe or total project), "Joe" has 10 days allocated to Project A and 5 days to Project B, and "Jill" has 5 days to Project A and 5 days into Project B. With the report requested it would be obvious that Project A and B would utilize the projects would utilize 15 and 10 days, respectively and that "Joe" and "Jill" are allocated for 15 and 10 days, respectively. I don't mind exporting into Excel (2003), if I have the correct data to further manipulate via macro or any other means. My attempts thus far have ended up with a Task Usage table that breaks down resources into "tasks" from projects (even with a project column and numerous attempts to group by task) and does not summarize "projects". Can anyone shed light on this dilemma? -- lisalp ------------------------------------------------------------------------ lisalp's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/173899.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/microsoft-project/1293039.htm http://forums.techarena.in

Cross tab reports in Project doesn't allow the columns to be other than time; but your requirement is to project names in columns. So, I suggest you customize the resource usage view to have the project field and grouped. Now the steps: 1. Open your resource pool (which will prompt to open the linked schedules). 2. Change your view to Resource usage and select Project | Group by | Custom Group by ... 3. In Custom Group by window, choose ID in the first level, then Project in the second level and ensure Field type is Assignment for Project (2nd level) 4. Now the resource usage view should have grouped by resources, and by project in level in the next level. Now, you can copy the contents to excel and use it. - Sai, PMP, PMI-SP, MCT, MCTS http://saipower.wordpress.com
