From: Russ (www.SBITS.Biz) on 15 Sep 2008 19:16 Response From MS (For Archival however I will email you also with this) Hi Russ, Thank you for your reply with the correct screen shot file. This appears to be a WSUS Database related problem. I have discussed this issue with SQL team engineers and they think that the table of WSUS database is corrupted. We need to backup WSUS database, reinstall internal database and then restore the database. Because the nature that this is an SBS based WSUS, please note that the reinstall steps in SBS 2003 and SBS 2003 R2 are quite different, I'd like to provide the steps below separately for your reference: For SBS 2003: 1. Backup SUSDB 2. Remove WSUS 3.0 from control panel 3. Install WSUS 3.0 4. Restore SUSDB For SBS 2003 R2: 1. Backup SUSDB 2. Remove WSUS by from Control Panel\Microsoft Small Business Server R2, click Remove button to uninstall R2. 3. Reinstall R2 component from the R2 DVD. 4. Install WSUS 3.0 to upgrade R2 built-in WSUS 2.0 to WSUS 3.0. 5. Restore SUSDB Steps to back up database ===================== Step 1: Stop services. Command line: net stop wsusservice net stop w3svc Step 2: Backup SUSDB. Command line: osql -E -S %computername%\WSUS -Q "BACKUP DATABASE SUSDB TO DISK='C:\SUSDBSP1.DAT' WITH INIT, STATS=10" Step 3: Move this backup copy to a safe location and start services Start services. Command line: net start wsusservice net start w3svc Steps to Restore the database ======================== Step 1: Stop services. Command line: net stop wsusservice net stop w3svc Step 2: Restore SUSDB. Command line: osql -E -S %computername%\WSUS -Q "RESTORE DATABASE SUSDB FROM DISK='C:\SUSDBSP1.DAT' WITH REPLACE, STATS=10" Step 3: Start services. Command line: net start wsusservice net start w3svc In addition, you can refer to to "Set up a disconnected network (Import and export Updates)" on following link to import updates and configuration as an alternative way to backup the content: http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/d446d310-413f-4844-8a ad-c557712397401033.mspx?mfr=true The downloadable version is at: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=49069 To download and install WSUS 3.0 SP1, you can refer to: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=E4A868D7-A820-46A0- B4DB-ED6AA4A336D9&displaylang=en -- Russell Grover - SBITS.Biz Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Microsoft Small Business Specialist World Wide 24hr Remote SBS2003 Support - http://www.SBITS.Biz "Russ (www.SBITS.Biz)" <support(a)REMOVETHIS.sbits.biz> wrote in message news:uRPhZwJFJHA.4064(a)TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > I'll respond to you in email since I'm waiting for MS to reply... > > So don't post to this just email me. > > Russ > > -- > Russell Grover - SBITS.Biz > Microsoft Gold Certified Partner > Microsoft Small Business Specialist > World Wide 24hr Remote SBS2003 Support - http://www.SBITS.Biz > > > "Russ (www.SBITS.Biz)" <support(a)REMOVETHIS.sbits.biz> wrote in message > news:OFyAksBFJHA.2244(a)TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >> MS wants a screen shot of this error please send it to me. >> >> russ AT sbits.biz >> Russ >> >> -- >> Russell Grover - SBITS.Biz >> Microsoft Gold Certified Partner >> Microsoft Small Business Specialist >> World Wide 24hr Remote SBS2003 Support - http://www.SBITS.Biz >> >> >> "Russ (www.SBITS.Biz)" <support(a)REMOVETHIS.sbits.biz> wrote in message >> news:%23cARc28EJHA.5224(a)TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >>> Sorry still no reply from MS :( >>> >>> Russ >>> >>> -- >>> Russell Grover - SBITS.Biz >>> Microsoft Gold Certified Partner >>> Microsoft Small Business Specialist >>> World Wide 24hr Remote SBS2003 Support - http://www.SBITS.Biz >>> >>> >>> "Russ (www.SBITS.Biz)" <support(a)REMOVETHIS.sbits.biz> wrote in message >>> news:uHYYLd3EJHA.4440(a)TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >>>> This is really Odd >>>> >>>> I've posted this to >>>> microsoft.private.directaccess.smallbizserver2003 >>>> and see what they have to say >>>> >>>> Russ >>>> >>>> -- >>>> Russell Grover - SBITS.Biz >>>> Microsoft Gold Certified Partner >>>> Microsoft Small Business Specialist >>>> World Wide 24hr Remote SBS2003 Support - http://www.SBITS.Biz >>>> >>>> >>>> "Russ (www.SBITS.Biz)" <support(a)REMOVETHIS.sbits.biz> wrote in message >>>> news:uxIiCb3EJHA.2076(a)TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... >>>>> this is something that shows up in the event log? >>>>> but the backups are successful? >>>>> >>>>> is that what you are saying? >>>>> >>>>> (Note I will be offsite in 1hr for the rest of the day I'll try to >>>>> help until then.) >>>>> >>>>> Russ >>>>> >>>>> -- >>>>> Russell Grover - SBITS.Biz >>>>> Microsoft Gold Certified Partner >>>>> Microsoft Small Business Specialist >>>>> World Wide 24hr Remote SBS2003 Support - http://www.SBITS.Biz >>>>> >>>>> >>>>> "Ray Bell" <raybellireland(a)gmail.com> wrote in message >>>>> news:924bf6af-1836-4ac1-b7ca-37133e4c31f7(a)m45g2000hsb.googlegroups.com... >>>>>> Thanks Russ for reply...its a SBS backup and i'm getting this message >>>>>> with the daily report. the error is just after the backup runs but >>>>>> the >>>>>> backup log file is fine.
