From: Jon B on 20 May 2010 05:50 Came to install XP yesterday on one of the Nvidia 9400 graphics Mac Minis, on reboot to install XP it just black screened after 20 seconds and that was it. Tried Mini DVI-DVI, Mini DVI-VGA, Display Port - DVI, Display Port - VGA, Sony 17" LCD, LG 17" WS LCD, Samsung 22" WS LCD, a projector..., nada, same result each time. Didn't have this issue with the old GMA MacMini, I know as I've got one in the field I set up last year with the Sony 17" before sending it out. Bit of a google suggests I'm not alone, and that it's down to the monitors & graphics card not being able to display the correct resolutions. Common theme was also "ultimately it was fine when plugged into an Apple cinema display", which would be fine but we don't have one. I will for a short time next week be an owner of a 23" Cinema, but this machines got to be out for Friday, and I'm not intending on keeping the cinema display either, so either way it's not a route out of this. My fix ultimately was I've got a unibody MacBook mid setup here [1], so whipped the HD out of the MacMini, bunged it into the MacBook, let it install XP onto the HD and at the reboot stage powered down & switched the drive back, so that XP didn't get to installing any drivers or associating itself with any hardware. The GUI stage of XP does look able to display itself on high street monitors via the Nvidia chipset. [1] That's got an issue with Office 2004 & santa rose chipsets when you click 'view show' with PowerPoint 2004, which again is not alone and could be for another post... -- Jon B Above email address IS valid. <http://www.bramley-computers.co.uk/> Apple Laptop Repairs.
