With luck (it's taken a long time for various boring reasons) I may have
a new 21" iMac next week, or the week after.

A few queries...

Obviously I'll do all the updates first but...

Apparently they come bundled with a wireless keyboard and a Magic Mouse.
I really, really want to go on typing with my Matias TactilePro, still
far and away the best keyboard I have ever used. I presume that plugging
the USB into the iMac should do it, but I'd be happy to use the Magic
Mouse. However, I *do* want to be able to assign a double click to the
right mouse 'button'. At the moment I do this with the Logitech control
panel for my Logitech mice, but I seem to remember people posting here
about a mouse control extension that will work with the MM. What was it
called please? USB Overdrive? Or is there something later and better?

I also use Flip4Mac and Perian; both very useful indeed. Presumably they
will both run on the new iMac, or have Apple done something smart and
irritating to stop one or both of them working?

That's it.

The iG5 will go to Geneva this summer, with its lovely Logitech mouse;
as I can't (as far as I know) use the wireless keyboard with it (or can
I?) I will take the Nimitz that lives in the cupboard with its tiny
iMate serial<->USB adapter, which should preserve me from the worst of
typing hell.

Another reason for driving out there; although it's a lot cheaper to
fly, the Nimitz on its own is almost over the limit for free luggage.
Anyway we take our grandchildren's bedding and toys and books. I begin
to understand why nomads might be a bit bad tempered...

BetterTouchTool

One of those 'eternally in beta' projects but seems to work very well.

Nope, they work just fine.
You -might- need to download new versions to be safe.

Yep, I actually sold the wireless keyboard & mice that came with ours,
bought Apple wired keyboard & a cheap wired mouse with the proceeds and
had quite a bit of change left over.

Still installing Flip4Mac here on all our new machines without issues.

Yeah the BT keyboard will work fine on that, the iG5 has BT built in, a
friends even got one on his iMac G4 1.25 with my old usb BT adapter from
2002.

Thank you very much. Reassuring.

I would anyway, going to 10.6.3, and they're trivially small.

BetterTouchTool turns the Magic Mouse from a device that's in the "if only
it did <foo>" category to one that's a pleasure to use.
