I stopped in the 3.0 range. Now I have RipIt.

Mind you, MTR can do a wee bit more, like rip individual tracks. If RipIt
can do that I haven't found out how yet, although it has to be said that
I've not used it much.

RipIt only does entire discs. If you need to frob with individual
tracks/languages or whatever, you need to use something like dvd2one.

4.01 hasn't come out yet but I upgraded to 4.0 just under three months
ago now. If you follow the instructions at the original ripdifferent
forum <URL:http://www.ripdifferent.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=11686>
you can access the new forum where you can find out how to request an
update to MTR 4.

The licence file for version 3 will work for version 4 and from here on
out, MTR will be able to update itself when new versions are released
instead of the current and previous tedious rigmarole.

For me the key question is, does it actually succeed ripping the latest
copy protected DVDs?

I admit I was put of by the "donation procedure" of v. 3. If I may ask,
what's the suggested amount now?
