Indeed. but I've just checked Eudora and it has a setting 'Delete from
server when emptied from trash'. I can't see how to replicate that in
Mail.

Yes, it's POP3 and indeed Eudora does it ('Delete from server when
emptied from trash') - can't see how to do it in Mail though.

I have all my Thunderbird served compters (Mac and Linux) set to leave
POP3 on server until removed from the Inbox (not the trash). I do the
same with my Windows Turnpike settings and iPhone. That means I can
read mail anywhere and still collect what I need on the main workstation
later.

Don't remember doing it in Mail, 'though - but didn't use it for long.
