A statistic distriburion for prime gaps
As the other statistical distributions, the gaps between primes deserves its own distribution. It is very irregular and I have not found the appropriate distribution to be applied. Marek.Wolf developed a formula for the probability P(N) of a gap d, in the neighborhood of a large N.: ... 5 Aug 2010 19:11

numerical experiments with Weber's modular functions
According to a paper by Muzaffar and Williams, < http://www.mathstat.carleton.ca/~williams/papers/pdf/269.pdf > Weber's three functions f(z), f_1(z) and f_3(z) are determined in terms of the Dedekind eta function, which is holomorphic in the upper half of the complex plane. Degree 1 mapping?
So... I guess the following map is an example of a degree 1 map from a compact closed n-manifold M to S^n: Pick a point p on M, pick a small ball around it. Map the complement of the ball to a point. Is there a reason why M needs to be compact for this to be degree 1? Or am I missing something? ... 9 Aug 2010 02:31
