The mathematical denotation for vector that indexs belong to a set. Hi, All I have trouble to denote a vector that the index of its element is defined as a element in a set. For example, given a vector which index are in a set I={a,b,c}. I want to define a vector that contains 3 elements V=[v_k | k \in I]. Apparently, the order of element is not given. So V=[v_a,v_b,v_c],... 12 May 2010 13:37
1-periodic, bounded vector fields on the plane I think that the only 1-periodic, C^infty and uniformly bounded vector field on the plane is the zero vector field. By 1-periodic I mean that all the orbit returns to the starting point after time 1. While trying to prove this statement I'm not really satisfied of my argumets, so I hope something more linear can ... 12 May 2010 04:49

Estimate of norm of function vanishing near the boundary Hello, Suppose u is in H^l_0 on bounded region (anisotropic Sobolev space, l=(l1,...ln) - multi-index). Note that: All partial (but not mixed) derivatives of u op to orders l_i vanish on the boundary. I'm trying to construct a finite element basis for H^l_0. Using anisotropic Strang-Fix conditions for choosing... 12 May 2010 08:03
TWEAKING THE BIG BANG MODEL FOREVER http://www.physorg.com/news4999.html "The widely accepted idea that the universe began with a Big Bang could be wrong, according to astrophysicists who took part in a "Crisis in cosmology" meeting in Portugal and reported in this month's Physics World magazine. According to the standard Big Bang theory, the univer... 12 Jun 2010 01:48
