From: Nate on 1 Feb 2010 17:08 Is there any way to remove/block/alter this in outbound mail for Exchange 2003 to avoid showing the internal server's host name to the world?
From: M on 1 Feb 2010 17:34 Hi Nate: You could change the FQDN of the default SMTP VS. There seems to be some different opinions on doing this. I personally have done it to resolve an e-mail delivery issue because certain recipient systems rejected the message since the internal FQDN didn't match up with the external FQDN. Based on that particular setup, I didn't really have any other option. For your situation, you probably don't want to change it since it's not causing any issues as is. See "Myth 3b: Modifying The FQDN of the SMTP Virtual Server" at http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2005/02/25/380481.aspx. -- Regards, M MCTS, MCSA "Nate" <nnord(a)maxitd.com> wrote in message news:123f7cf9-6abb-448d-9ec2-17b0483c9159(a)b36g2000yqn.googlegroups.com... > Is there any way to remove/block/alter this in outbound mail for > Exchange 2003 to avoid showing the internal server's host name to the > world?

It does affect a different portion of the mail header but unfortunately not the Message-ID section. I know Exchange 2007 has the ability to block this portion of the header but I don't see any easy solution for 2003.

Duh! My bad. I'm not aware of any way to modify that part of the header. That's really getting down to a lower level of Exchange operation, so I'm not sure if there's a supported interface to change that. -- Regards, M MCTS, MCSA "Nate" <nnord(a)maxitd.com> wrote in message news:e5f47b3d-e15d-4d9d-820c-cae541c58e2d(a)b10g2000yqa.googlegroups.com...
