From: Andrew on 11 Mar 2010 13:18 Speaker(Volume Control), and other Icons Disappear ..! XP Home,SP3, all updates. Even Though, **** Hide inactive icons **** is NOT Checked ..! I have even done Customize, in Taskbar and StartMenu properties, to ensure the missing sysTray Programs, are set to Always Show..! Even Setting to "Hide when Inactive".. apply, resetting to "Always show" does not get them back.. I can even see the programs running in Task Manager, so know they are active. Is there a Registry Setting or Executable to Re-Initialise the SystemTray ..? or to can remove then reapply the settings. Thanx in Advance Andrew

AMD dual core, 2gigs RAM,Palit Geforce9600gt with 1gig memory video, 2 sata drives partitioned Disk0 with C,E(extended C),and F. Disk1 D(music), G(photo), H, I(backups) I do wonder if E and D are messing with the boot sequence and this is altering the startup of the icons themselves? Seems to weird for that though. Interesting, I have the same issue sometimes. The icons do not show in the bottom right but they are active in Task Manager. I also notice a slower boot when they do not show and a fast boot when they do show. It is also random as to which ones show and which ones don't. My son thinks it may be the number of partitions I have on the drive or something to that effect. I would be interested in any suggestions as well to lead to a resolution. Not a huge deal just a visual inconvenience.

This is a massive apparently very well known bug in XP affecting millions of users me included Here is the best explanation I have seen but there is no acceptable solution from MS so far http://winhlp.com/node/16 RC "W****n S***********g" <Bigbrother(a)CIA.gov> wrote in message news:OpXNdTawKHA.3952(a)TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > > "Andrew" <NoToSpam(a)ReadItYourSelf.com> wrote in message > news:-4ednR2ccI_dqQTWnZ2dnUVZ8oednZ2d(a)bt.com... >> Speaker(Volume Control), and other Icons Disappear ..! >> >> XP Home,SP3, all updates. >> >> Even Though, **** Hide inactive icons **** is NOT Checked ..! >> >> I have even done Customize, in Taskbar and StartMenu properties, to >> ensure the missing sysTray Programs, >> are set to Always Show..!
