From: Lobster on 13 May 2010 05:04 SWMBO has an LG KS360 one of those slidey keyboard models which has become unreliable and keeps switching itself off - suspect a poor contact in the slidey mechanism, maybe? Anyway - the beast is out of warranty and I was wondering if there was any prospect of getting it fixed anywhere - or is it realistically a bin job? I know a new PAYG one costs about 50 (though at least hers is fully unlocked). Thanks David

I know a new PAYG one costs about £50 (though at least hers is > fully unlocked). I think it would be marginal. eBay prices are about 20-30 pounds, so it's not go to take long before it's cheaper to buy a new one. Phone repairs aren't simple at the best of times, and there's no guarantee of success. It's always worth trying local unlocking shops/market stalls etc. Failing that have a go yourself? You only have 20 pounds to lose. Though you'd probably need to buy some small security screwdrivers to do it. Does anywhere in (eg) Asia offer repairs by post? There the labour costs are much lower, and they have better access to spares (you can buy things in the markets in Shenzhen that we can only dream of [1]). Probably not worth it for the OP, but perhaps for higher value phones? [1] http://www.bunniestudios.com/blog/?p=283 Theo
