From: Petergy on 4 Jan 2010 01:45 I am persevering with Microsoft Movie Maker to edit a home movie. I want to chop out large sections from both the start and finish and also to add a title and intro etc - I managed to get the files on to my computer as a .wmv ... the unedited file is 980Mb - I have figured out how to edit and create my movie in Movie Maker, not a problem - I published the movie to a .wmv ... the final published .wmv is 25Mb (expected as it is only a small movie) --HOWEVER-- The resultant .wmv will open ok in Windows Media Player but after some time (nearly to the end) it will hang on a frame, the sound will stop --BUT-- the sliding bar in Windows Media Player continues to the end Note that it will play right through to the end when in Movie Maker, it seems to be something in the published .wmv. I have repeatedly tried to remake movies and it always end up with the problem of the published .wmv not finishing. ----------------------------------------- I am using Microsoft Vista Home Premium Version 6.0 Build 6002 SP 2 - 64bit OS Windows Movie Maker 6.0.6002.18005 Physical Memory available to Windows 4,192,380 Kb Graphics card is NVIDIA 8600 GT ----------------------------------------- Can someone please suggest what may be wrong regards

From: John Inzer on 6 Jan 2010 23:03 Petergy wrote: > John > > Not adding music, however I would like to ... > > regards ================================ OK...you did not add an additional audio file... Just a few thoughts..... Did you add Transitions or Effects? If_yes_ you may have to remove them. Did you add any still shots? Or is it just the video that remains after you remove the unwanted footage? In Movie Maker try going to...Tools / Options / Compatibility tab...and uncheck all the filters / OK. Now try to save the project as a Movie File. Let us know if it made any difference in the playback. -- J. Start/Programs/Windows Movie Maker 2. Ensured that there are no Imported Media items (for some reason they remain after File/New Project 3. File/New Project 4. Import Media ... import the 980Mb .wmv 5. Drag this .wmv to the Video Timeline 6. Use the clip & drag arrow to delete a large portion from the start 7. Use the clip & drag arrow to delete a portion from the end (the movie is only 4.5 minutes long) 8. Rewind the Timeline 9. Title & Credits ... add Title at the Beginning 10. Type in a title 11. Play the Timeline with title right through - IT COMPLETES OK 12. Rewind the Timeline 13. File/Publish Movie/This Computer/(name the movie)/click Next 14. Use Best Quality For Playback On My Computer (100Gb of space is available) 15. Click Publish 16. When done click Finish 17. Exit Windows Movie Maker (didn't save project) 18. Open Explorer to find that the Published .wmv file is 6Mb 19. Goes for ONLY 19secs then the frame freezes, sound stops. (note that the Seek bar still advances to the end) - there are no still shots - there are no effects - Tools/Options/Compatibility Tab only has AVI Decompressor listed .... nothing more to add ... |
