Since the partition table does not seem to be sane, you can try
scavenging any files that are visible.

If TestDisk could find something, I would be more optimistic. You'd
think that even if all my theories about what should be in the
partition table are wrong, that TestDisk would say it has found
partitions. I don't know how damaged the two partitions would have to be,
before TestDisk could not find them.
