From: L.S. on 3 Feb 2010 17:54 WinXP(home) sp3 and all updates except 1.1 sp1 which won't install. This leads me to a question. Why have the older version of .NET on a system? I have 1.1, 1.1 Hotfix (kb928366), 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, on this system. I have an dup system, same MB, winxp(home), .etc., etc. and it only has 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 so not sure why I need to keep 1.1 or for that matter 2.0 or 3.0... I've read as much as I can relating to .net but can't find an answer. thanks, L.
From: 20100203 on 3 Feb 2010 18:05 All you need is .Net Framework Version 3.5 SP1. It has version 2, verson 3 and version 3.5. <http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/0/e/20e90413-712f-438c-988e-fdaa79a8ac3d/dotnetfx35.exe> Forget about other downloads as they are not required. hth "L.S." wrote: > > WinXP(home) sp3 and all updates except 1.1 sp1 which won't install. > > This leads me to a question. > Why have the older version of .NET on a system? > > I have 1.1, 1.1 Hotfix (kb928366), 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, on this system. You only need it if you have an application that requires it. If you don't, go ahead and uninstall it. You can re-install it later if you find that your application DOES need it.

From: Rich Barry on 3 Feb 2010 18:18 There is no need to keep Net. Framework unless you have Apps that depend on it. For example, I have a ATI Graphics Card that uses a Catalyst Driver and Control Center that is dependent on Net. Framework. So, feel free to Uninstall Net from the Add/Remove Program in Control Panel.
