Total Commander (ghisler.com) Although you'll have to cheat a little to add different colors to your folders. Stable. Flexible. Powerful. Free updates _forever_. I've used it for 10 years and a half-dozen major updates. Near instant support from the TC community (http://ghisler.ch/board/) and the actual guy who writes the code drops in a couple of times a week. Yeah. We're all that enthusiastic.

I forgot to mention that you can download a 100% functional version to use as long as you want, with a splash entry screen. Standard configuration operates like the old Norton Commander but you can customize it easily to work with Windows compliant keys/mouse actions.
