Someone is apparently ignorant, and they say their level of understanding is "high". > Do you have any proof that the review is made up ? Trying to prove that would be a neat trick, but I usually read between the lines well IMO. The word "bogus" might not be the best description, I meant something like "worthless" or "misleading" (intentionally or not), maybe "careless" or "clueless" would be better. I have read plenty of reviews by people who apparently do not know what they are talking about even though they act like they do. Sometimes a user will complain about a piece of hardware not working properly, but I can tell that they just do not know how to use it. And then there are reviews that knock off points for something trivial, and vice versa. Being able to perceive something other than what is written is very tricky, but believing everything you read is a big mistake too. Even the consensus of opinions can be wrong. > Can you cite one example? No easier than you can cite an example of a legitimate review. You should suspect that there are some bogus reviews on Newegg and other review sites. Some advertisers/spammers try very hard to fool you. BUY NOW AND SAVE! Many people believed that. Hopefully, one way to narrow that possibility is to read the verified Newegg/Amazon/whatever purchaser reviews. That is one thing you can be somewhat confident about, thanks to the sorting, whether they have actually purchased the thing. User reviews are not worthless, but they are not science either. -- > > -- > Jan Alter > bearpuf verizon.net > > > > > Path: news.astraweb.com!border5.newsrouter.astraweb.com!news.glorb.com!news2.glorb.com!feeder.erje.net!eternal-september.org!.POSTED!not-for-mail > From: "Jan Alter" <bearpuf verizon.net> > Newsgroups: alt.comp.hardware.pc-homebuilt > Subject: Re: Newegg hardrives > Date: Mon, 31 May 2010 15:01:02 -0400 > Organization: A noiseless patient Spider > Lines: 30 > Message-ID: <hu111u$vl5$1 news.eternal-september.org> > References: <4c03bbb7$0$14647$c3e8da3 news.astraweb.com> <4c040411$0$11230$c3e8da3 news.astraweb.com> > Injection-Date: Mon, 31 May 2010 19:01:18 +0000 (UTC) > Injection-Info: mx02.eternal-september.org; posting-host="C356FuTfp4SveaBCjzj1KA"; logging-data="32421"; mail-complaints-to="abuse eternal-september.org"; posting-account="U2FsdGVkX1/jmTaGI+m/XlyKBleZhrdQ" > X-RFC2646: Format=Flowed; Original > X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.5931 > Cancel-Lock: sha1:zkkhbHh6WnA603IN0ZYZMP/nhIY= > X-Priority: 3 > X-MSMail-Priority: Normal > X-MIMEOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.5931 >

I only ask the questions in an attempt get a feel for the reason so many drives are failing. Your reading far more into my post than what was there. I'l try to make it simpler for your, but I am not sure it's possible.

No problems with any, and all shipped UPS with bubble wrap, peanuts, or both. The actual number of reviews compared to sales is probably a small fraction, I suspect. Nearly every reviewer seems to claim their "tech level is high", which I find unverifiable. Someone with an ax to grind will almost certainly submit a negative review, while satisfied customers might be less inclined to participate. Frequently, there is no way to determine what research was done by the dissatisfied individuals that might have helped prevent their problems. That said, I may have an advantage: I live in the Los Angeles area, not far from Newegg's SoCal warehouse. less travel time may be in my favor; I couldn't tell you for sure.

I guess it was to difficult for you to understand. If I got 100 responses and 50 said UPS and 50 said Fedex, but 80% of ppl getting them by UPS had failures and 5& shipped FedX had problems it could be meaningful. Chill out dude... I was simply trying to poll people and perhaps draw some conclusions.
