I'm not sure why you'd want to do that in a newsreader; seems like
something you'd do in a web browser.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your need???

The browser iCab can do it, if you tell it Unison is your newsreader. Just
enter (for example)
news:0001HW.C7527BB9005E995AB08A39AF(a)news.eternal-september.org into the
address bar and press Enter. I have an account at Motzarella, whose server is
eternal-september.org.
