From: Sparky on 16 Dec 2009 11:14 If someone posts a link to a news message in the format: news:9abcde8fghij7klmno6pqrst5uvwxy.com what newsreader for OS X will be able to open this message? The apps I looked at have no mechanism for pasting in this link. Thanks.

MT-Newswatcher can. Your link points to a group not available on my server, but if I construct one for your message it works just fine: news:0001HW.C74E4768011A956EB08A39AF(a)news.eternal-september.org BTW this is not a MIME type, it's a URL scheme. -- Tom "Tom" Harrington Independent Mac OS X developer since 2002 http://www.atomicbird.com/

Indeed. I can confirm that Thunderbird does not handle such URLs, (and I'm on the same provider as Tom), but my experience is that such references are few and far between, and my desire to go to a message so linked averages just above 0. Do you run across such frequently? -- John McWilliams

It's not a real message ID, just an example of the URL scheme.
