From: CK on 18 Sep 2009 07:40 Setup Monitoring and Reporting, all seems well even get the test/setup emails at the end and on a weekly basis as setup. However I dont get any alert emails?? I have Changed the Alert notifications for low disk space and stopped services but none of them work. AV on server is Mcafee - tried with access protection disabled but no luck. Are the Alert sent differently from the reports and how can i trace source of failure?
From: Russ Grover [SBS-MVP] on 18 Sep 2009 23:17 I've seen similar issues with McAfee. Check the Configuration of McAfee and see if you can find section on where I allows applications to send email or allow other programs to send email other than the SMTP gateway.. From: CK on 22 Sep 2009 06:49 There is the "prevent mass mailing works from sending mail" option in which some processes have been excluded. The question then would be what process to exclude? i thought it's the same one that sends the reports but seems unlikely. Additionally when a process is blocked, it's normally logged. logs show nothing? From: CK on 8 Oct 2009 08:21 Solved it. Went into Health monitor -> Server -> actions and in the email properties changed the server name to correct name. it then started sending alerts which were blocked by mcafee so I added "wmiprvse.exe" to the exclusion list for mass mailing.
