From: hq4000@hotmail.com on 20 Dec 2005 12:05 I am a newbie to the driver installation. When using DPInst 2.01 (DPInst.exe) of Driver Install Frameworks Tools, I got following error and the 'software' modem (this is not a physical modem hardware) is not appeared in Phone and Modem Options under Control Panel. However, if I manually go through the "Install New Modem" widzard by pointing to the mdmtest.inf, the modem would install OK with the COM port assignment I want. INFO: ENTER: DriverPackageInstallW INFO: Installing INF file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\mdmtest_AD7C8B183979FE99CFF7C1953358067EDFDD6CE8\mdmtest.inf" of Type 6. INFO: Looking for Model Section [M18.NTAMD64]... INFO: No matching devices found in INF "C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\mdmtest_AD7C8B183979FE99CFF7C1953358067EDFDD6CE8\mdmtest.inf" on the Machine. INFO: No drivers installed. No devices found that match driver(s) contained in 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\mdmtest_AD7C8B183979FE99CFF7C1953358067EDFDD6CE8\mdmtest.inf'. SUCCESS:Installation completed with code 0xE000020B. INFO: RETURN: DriverPackageInstallW (0xE000020B) INFO: No matching device was found for 'd:\modem\mdmtest.inf'. Driver will be installed when plugged in. Any help? What is the meaning of "mdmtest.inf of Type 6"? Besides, how do I assign a COM port to the modem through the DPInst.exe?
