I have MacTeX installed on an OS X 10.6 system (Snow Leopard) and would
like the various package documentation that comes as part of TeXlive to
be indexed by Spotlight.

I have run the command

mdimport -d2 /usr/local/texlive/2009/texmf-dist/doc/

and see from the debugging output that the files are being processed,
but the files are still not being found when I do a Spotlight search.

I would appreciate suggestions on how to get this stuff easily searchable.

Most of the relevant files are PDFs. Once I've got this sorted out,
maybe later I'd worry about indexing DVIs.

Cheers,

-j

Howdy,

As stated above, you need to allow it to show ``System Files'' which is
a pain since you can put them on the list for the pop-up menu but not
have them selected by default. Maybe one day...

Quite frankly I've switched over to using Find Any File, see
<http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/index.html>, or using texdoc in
Terminal.

Good Luck,
