From: aussieworker on 23 Jun 2005 09:12 Has anyone seen this one ? Currently has me stumped. Getting the following event listed regularly in my SBS event viewer. 262 PlugPlayManager The service "APCPBEAgent" vetoed a power event request. I'm guessing it's not specific to SBS2003 but I'm asking here anyway. The "APCPBEAgent" is part of APC PowerChute 7.0.2 Business Edition. Currently have it connected via USB. I have been through bios to ensure there are no power saving settings enabled. Also been through Windows power options and hardware settings. APC support couldn't shed any light on it . Neither was there anything useful on technet. With thanks, Tony

I'm hoping the link works, but if not the short answer is "The system's attempt to put the computer into a power-saving state was blocked by the specified service." I'm using the same version of PCBE but with a serial instead of USB connection - FWIW I've never seen anything like that with my sbs or other servers. I wonder if it's the UPS or PCBE that's trying to put the system into power saving, as opposed to a bios or system setting, and PlugPlayManger is what's blocking it. Do you have PCBE set up to do a scheduled shutdown or anything similar? If you disconnect the UPS's USB cable, do the errors stop? http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/result.aspx?EvtSrc=PlugPlayManager&EvtID=262&ProdName=Windows+Operating+System&LCID=1033&ProdVer=5.0 "aussieworker" <nothanks(a)iinet.net.au> wrote in message news:42bab526$0$27754$5a62ac22(a)per-qv1-newsreader-01.iinet.net.au... > Has anyone seen this one ? From: sbs2003user on 23 Jun 2005 11:04 which model ups do you have? it sounds as if the server is re-detecting it via plug and play and that is causing powerchute to object to changes being made to the power management rules. From: aussieworker on 24 Jun 2005 00:08 Thanks for the link. I've also deployed the same UPS (smartups 1500) and software many times. Only difference was that I decided to use USB instead of serial this time round. I did try to swap back to serial but was unable to do so easily. PowerChute was reluctant to redetect on serial. It was getting a little late as the install was basically finished and had to taken to site the next day. I left it thinking I would find an easy answer, it worked otherwise and would in fact shut down gracefully after pulling the plug.
