From: trebor204 on 20 May 2010 03:25 I just got a new computer (From Dell) with a purchased copy of 2007 Student/Home Edition OEM version (1 license). I thought I ordered the the retail version (3 license) instead. I was wondering when I upgrade to 2010 will I only 1-license version or the full retail version (3 license). Right now I have 3 versions of Office 2007 installed and wanting them to upgrade to 2010 when it comes out.
From: DL on 20 May 2010 03:54 The free upgrade will match the current License you own. I'd suggest you check your Dell paperwork to see if you did order / pay for a retail version "trebor204" <trebor204(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:929EA632-950C-4A35-AD87-AC4E0828C6F4(a)microsoft.com... > I just got a new computer (From Dell) with a purchased copy of 2007 > Student/Home Edition OEM version (1 license). You might need to check with Dell to find the specifics for your order, but here is a page to help you identify your license designation. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/HA102240441033.aspx "To determine which License Terms apply to you check the license designation printed either on your product key, near the product name on your Certificate of Authenticity, or on the download page if you obtained your product key online. If your designation is FPP, then the Retail License Terms included with your software apply to you. If your designation is OEM, then the OEM License Terms included with your software apply to you. If your license designation is MLK, then the Media-less License Kit Terms included with your software apply to you." Microsoft Software License Terms (MSLT) for the 2007 Microsoft Office system Find the Microsoft Software License Terms (MSLT) for your Microsoft Office system product. MSLTs are available for Retail Products, Pre-installed Trial versions, and Home Use Rights. If you are unsure which License Terms apply to you, see the 2007 Microsoft Office Suites License Designations. Additional tips about License Terms - your specific License Terms provide the details you need. Office 2007 is used as an example In your 2007 version - click on Office Button - Options - Resources - About - View the Microsoft Software License Terms Normally the License terms includes sections for Retail License Terms, OEM License Terms and Media-Less License Terms (In Office 2010 - Product Key Card - PKC will replace Media-Less or MLK) Then, under the Installation and Use Rights, it specifically states how you can assign your license. For 2007 products, this is also a good resource page for License Terms in identifying the kind of product you have: If your designation is FPP, then the Retail License Terms below apply to you. If your designation is OEM, then the OEM License Terms below apply to you. If your designation is MLK, then the Media-less License Kit Terms below apply to you. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/HA102240441033.aspx Also, another helpful tip (IF it applies in your specific license terms) - READ your license terms to be sure you HAVE specific reassign useage Here is a REASSIGN * Example * REASSIGN TO ANOTHER DEVICE. You may reassign the license to a different device any number of times, but not more than one time every 90 days. If you reassign, that other device becomes the "licensed device." If you retire the licensed device due to hardware failure, you may reassign the license sooner.
