From: Mike on 7 May 2010 08:45 Hi folks, I am about to start my SBS 2003 to SBS 2008 migration with SBSMigration.com. I purchased the technicians kit, have downloaded the docs, am reading through them currently. My new physical server is in place, I have my SBS 2008 Premium software, and am waiting on my tempDC to arrive (bought a $300 server from Dell for the purpose, and will use it for something else after migration). I have a couple of questions and request for advice before I begin the actual migration. 1) My plan is to use Hyper V( I downloaded the stand alone version) to create two child partitions, one for SBS 2008, and one for the companion Server 2008 Standard. I have a Dell R710, with 24G memory and 5-300Gb drives. My plan is to create a raid 5 at the HW level, and for SBS give it 16Gb RAM, a 100Gb partition for the OS, 250Gb for Exchange, and another 100Gb for miscellaneous. Then my Server 2008 standard, 8Gb RAM, a 100Gb for the OS, 400Gb for file storage (current server I'm replacing has about 200Gb capacity for storage), and leave about 250Gb unused for a possible 3rd VM or additional space needs on the existing two. Does this sound reasonable for the SBS portion? 2) Also, as a part of my cleanup of my existing SBS server, what is the best way to remove user accounts/mailboxes for archival purposes, so I can do that and not have to migration old mailboxes? Any other advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mike
