I use E-Trade's "MarketCaster", but I have access to it because I have an E-Trade account. I don't know of any completely free and open real-time quote services, but then I haven't spent much time looking for one either. -- Bert Hyman | St. Paul, MN | bert(a)iphouse.com

From: DP on 21 Feb 2007 22:28 I don't know how up-to-the-minute this is and I don't know if you can set up alerts. But if you look at the very bottom of this page, http://www.cnbc.com/ , there'll be a link to start the ticker. Also, if you use AOL's AIM instant messenger service, you can set it up to run a ticker. You don't have to subscribe to AOL to use AIM. Again, I don't know how up-to-the-minute it is or if you can set alerts. My participation in the market is longterm, so I haven't found a need for something that keeps me abreast of the market intraday. So, with this message, I have exhausted the extent of my knowledge of online stock tickers. Wait, one more thing: What about the NYSE and NASDAQ websites? Have you looked there?
