From: Andrew Brydon on 19 May 2010 02:59 Prompted by a recent thread about best free utilities, I D/Led and fired up Monolingual on an intel Mac Mini. Yes, caveat emptor: didn't get to some of the small print warnings dotted around the place. So, in short, how easy/reliable/safe is it to reinstall the PPC architectures by a repair/install using the original CD? -- Andrew Brydon Life is just the beta-version of death

You can begin with the latest combo updater. It may do what you want without a reinstall, Jan

There are bound to be lots of other files that haven't been touched. Andrew is probably going to have to do a full system reinstall. Not hard - just boot from the DVD, install normally to your existing drive, then after it starts up, reapply all available updates. This will do the equivalent of an Archive & Install from previous system versions, so you may be left without third party software (e.g. drivers) which was installed in /System. Anything missing can be reinstalled as you discover it. -- David Empson dempson(a)actrix.gen.nz

It is possible to remove the language you need (e.g. US English). |
